"I'm coming down! Don't panic!" Now why would she say that?
Because Night Sky, standing high in the branches above the top of the treehouse, was leaping down without any further warning. Before she hit the ground, a pair of translucent wings sprouted from her back — pale green and veined with gold, looking akin to the wings of a butterfly. She glided down gracefully, landed in front of him, and grinned.
He should probably tell her that telling someone not to panic was a surefire way to ensure they might panic.
Not that he did right away, but he felt a little flare of concern as he looked upward just in time to see her leaping down. His heart jumped into his throat until he caught sight of the translucent wings, his eyes widening before his features softened with a hint of fascination.
"My heart, they're beautiful!" He grinned as he moved closer to examine them.
"I love them." He confirmed with a nod, reaching to brush a hand over her shoulder so he didn't touch the wings. He knew how delicate butterfly wings could be, and he didn't want to risk hurting hers.
"You've caught on rather quickly to flying too, it looks like." He praised her, leaning in to press a kiss to her forehead.
They could probably take it, magical as they were, but she could always appreciate how gentle he was with her, in general.
Her wings fluttered again with the kiss, as if the joy she felt was filtering through to the very tips of them. "I've been practicing a lot since Lulu and I figured out ducks counted as land, sea, and sky." She laughed. "We should fly together!"
"That is true, they are that." Halsin chuckled as she pointed out how versatile ducks were, his eyes dancing with amusement. He also enjoyed seeing her so happy, something she deserved after everything that had happened.
"We can do that." He nodded with a smile. "What form should I take to join you?"
Halsin loved ducks. Lulu loved ducks. Clearly she needed to increase her duck appreciation to assure they were not disappointed in her.
"What form do you like for flying?" She asked, stepping closer to drape her arms around his neck. Not very conducive to shape changing, but that didn't matter. "An elemental? Some kind of bird?" A beat. "A duck, for the obvious choice."
She would be silly to think they could ever be disappointed in her.
"I can take the form of a dire raven, which is what I usually resort to. Perhaps I should get some wings too? Then I could at least fly and communicate with you." He smiled, brushing a thumb against the small of her back. "A duck could be fun too, of course."
"I can speak with animals. I'm pretty sure it still works." She chirped excitedly, her fingers absently brushing through his hair. "Dire raven sounds fun. And you should get some wings — big ones. Like... oh, I bet eagle wings would look good on you."
"Oh, I think you could be right about that. I'll keep it in mind," he smiled, leaning in to brush his lips against hers. Then he straightened, taking a couple of steps back. "Do you want to go flying right now?"

"Do you like them? I added flying creature transformation to my skill set too! So I can change into more animals with you."
